What our published guides and estimates are — and what they are not.

We publish cost figures, technical opinions and checklists on this site because they are genuinely useful and because nobody else in our market publishes them plainly. This page explains how to read them — what they are based on, where they will not apply to you, and what we are not claiming.

General information, not advice for your situation

Everything on this site is general information about software development, technology choices and related business decisions. It is written for a broad audience and cannot account for your specific circumstances, contracts, jurisdiction, regulatory environment or existing systems.

Nothing here is legal, financial, tax, accounting, investment, regulatory or professional engineering advice. Before making a decision with legal or financial consequences — signing a development contract, choosing a data residency arrangement, committing capital to a platform migration — take advice from a professional qualified in that field and in your jurisdiction.

How to read our cost figures

Several of our guides publish rupee and dollar ranges for building software. We are more specific than most agencies are willing to be, so it is worth being equally specific about the limits of those numbers.

Where the figures come from. They are derived from our own quoted and delivered projects, plus rates we observe in the local market. They are not survey data, they are not industry benchmarks, and they are not audited.

What they assume. Ranges assume a conventional scope, an engaged client, reasonably clean input data, and third-party systems that behave as their documentation says. Any of those assumptions failing moves the number, usually upward.

Why your quote may differ legitimately. A quote from us or from anyone else may fall well outside a published range because of scope detail we could not anticipate, integration complexity, compliance requirements, timeline compression, currency movement since publication, or the seniority of the team assigned. A difference is not evidence that a quote is unfair.

Currency and time. Figures are stated in the currency shown, at the time of writing. Exchange rates, local wage levels, cloud pricing and third-party subscription costs all change. An article's publication date is shown on the page; treat older figures with proportionate caution.

The short rule

Use our published ranges to sanity-check a budget or to spot a quote that is wildly out of line. Do not use them as a negotiating position against a specific vendor, and do not treat them as an offer from us. Only a written quote for your project, referencing a dated scope, is an offer.

Technical opinions and comparisons

Our comparison articles — frameworks, backends, hosting tiers, e-commerce platforms — contain our professional opinion as of the date of publication. They are honest and they are also partial: they reflect the kinds of projects we take on and the technologies our team knows well.

Software moves quickly. A framework limitation we describe may be resolved in a later release; a package we call mature may become unmaintained; a provider's pricing or regional availability may change. Verify current facts — especially version support, pricing, and whether a service is available in your country — against the vendor's own documentation before relying on them.

Where we name third-party products, we are describing them, not certifying them. We have no affiliate arrangements, sponsorships or paid placements with any product mentioned on this site. If that ever changes, we will disclose it on the page concerned.

No guarantee of results

Our articles describe practices that have worked on our projects — performance passes, requirements processes, pilot structures for AI work, delivery checks. Applying them does not guarantee a particular outcome for you. Results depend on your market, team, data, budget, execution and factors none of us control.

Specifically, we make no representation that following our guidance will produce any particular search ranking, conversion rate, revenue figure, cost saving, page speed score, approval by any third-party platform, or project timeline. Where we cite a benefit, we describe what we observed, not what you should expect.

Templates and checklists

Where we publish a template — a requirements document outline, a pre-launch checklist, a set of vetting questions — you are welcome to use it, including commercially. It is provided as a starting point, without warranty of any kind.

Templates are not drafted for your jurisdiction and are not a substitute for professional review. A requirements outline is not a contract. A vetting checklist is not legal due diligence. Adapt them, and have anything with legal effect reviewed by a lawyer.

External links and third-party content

We link to external sites where they are useful. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content, accuracy, availability, security or privacy practices. A link is not an endorsement, and content on a linked site may change after we link to it.

Our news section aggregates headlines, summaries and links from third-party publishers. That material belongs to the originating publisher, is attributed, and links back to the original. We do not verify third-party reporting, we do not endorse it, and any views expressed in it are the publisher's, not ours. Aggregated items are labelled as external and are excluded from search indexing.

Advertising

This site displays third-party advertising, including through Google AdSense. Adverts are selected and served by ad networks, not by us. We do not review, endorse or take responsibility for advertised products, services or claims, and we have no control over which adverts appear alongside a given article.

If you see an advert on this site that appears misleading, offensive or fraudulent, please tell us. We cannot remove an individual advert directly, but we can report it and adjust category blocks. How advertising cookies work is explained in our Cookie Policy; the separation between advertising and our editorial content is set out in our Editorial Policy.

Project examples, statistics and testimonials

Where we describe past projects, we do so in general terms and, where a client's identity is confidential, without identifying details. Figures quoted about our own work — projects delivered, years active, team size — are accurate to the best of our knowledge at the time of publication and are updated periodically rather than continuously.

Client outcomes described anywhere on this site are specific to those clients. They are not typical, guaranteed or promised, and they should not be read as a prediction of your results.

A note on how our content is produced

Our articles are written and reviewed by our own team, drawing on our project experience. We use software tools in our workflow, including for editing and formatting, but our published articles are not machine-generated filler: each is reviewed by a person with practical experience of the subject before it goes live. Our Editorial Policy sets out the process and how we handle corrections.

Errors and corrections

We get things wrong occasionally. If you find a factual error, an out-of-date figure or a broken example, please tell us and we will correct it. Substantive corrections are noted on the article itself rather than made silently.

To the extent permitted by law, we accept no liability for loss arising from reliance on information published on this site. Please read this page alongside our Terms of Service, which sets out the applicable limitations in full.
