2. Preference

4. Advertising
This site displays advertising through Google AdSense. Advertising cookies are set by Google and its advertising partners, not by us, and we do not have access to the data they collect.

Opting out of personalised advertising does not remove advertising. You will still see adverts; they will be selected on general context — such as the topic of the page — rather than on an inferred profile.
Where advertising is not shown
We deliberately do not run advertising on pages that exist only to perform a function rather than to inform: our administrative area, job and proposal application forms, submission-status pages, the error page, and pages that republish third-party headlines. Those pages are also excluded from search indexing.
5. Embedded third-party content
Some pages embed content hosted elsewhere — images from an external image service, a font provider, or occasionally a video.
