Where To Start

Which of these do you actually need?

Eleven services is a menu, and menus are unhelpful when you are not sure what you are ordering. Here is how we work out what a project really needs — usually in one conversation.

Start from the outcome, not the technology

Almost nobody needs "a mobile app". They need customers to be able to order without phoning; or staff to stop re-typing invoices; or a website that does not embarrass them in a pitch. The technology follows from that, and stating the outcome first frequently changes the answer.

A worked example we see often: a client asks for an app because customers keep calling to check order status. An app would solve it, at a cost of several million rupees and a permanent maintenance commitment — and would only reach the customers willing to install it. A tracking page on the existing website, linked from the SMS you already send, solves the same problem for a fraction of that and reaches everyone. Same outcome, very different invoice.

The four questions that decide it

  1. Do users log in, and do different users see different things? If yes, you are in custom software or backend territory, not brochure-website territory — and the number of roles will drive the cost more than the number of screens.
  2. Does anything need to work on a phone, offline, or with the camera or GPS? If yes, a mobile app is justified. If it is only "customers use phones", a fast mobile website reaches everyone with no install friction.
  3. Are you selling products with stock, prices and shipping? That is e-commerce, and the first decision is platform versus custom — see our comparison before spending anything.
  4. Does something already exist that is slow, fragile, or unmaintained? Then the honest first step is an assessment, not a build. That is IT consulting or maintenance, and it is usually a few days rather than a few months.

Which services usually travel together

Some of these are rarely bought alone, and it is worth knowing which, so a quote that omits one is recognisable as incomplete rather than cheap:

  • A mobile app almost always needs backend and API work plus an admin panel. Roughly half the real effort sits behind the app.
  • E-commerce and any content-heavy site need a genuine performance pass, because load time touches revenue here more directly than anywhere else.
  • Custom software needs design earlier than clients expect — the states, the role-specific views and the reports shape the database, and the database is the expensive thing to get wrong.
  • Anything with real users needs QA and deployment infrastructure. Testing is 15–25% of a professional build; removing it does not remove the bugs, it moves their discovery to your customers.
  • Everything needs maintenance afterwards. Budget 15–20% of build cost per year, and treat any quote that ignores this as incomplete.

What we will talk you out of

We would rather lose a project than sell the wrong one, so it is fair to say in advance where we tend to push back. An app when a mobile website would serve you better. A custom build when a mature off-the-shelf product handles your genuinely standard need more cheaply and more reliably. A machine-learning model when a rule would be cheaper, faster and auditable. A full redesign when two flows carry the frustration and the rest is fine. And any project where nobody on your side has three to five hours a week to spend on it — starting one of those is the most expensive form of optimism we know.

How an engagement usually begins

One free conversation about what you are building, who uses it and what has to be true on launch day. For well-defined work we can quote after that call. For anything ambiguous we propose a short paid discovery phase — typically five to ten days — producing wireframes, a technical approach and a firm build quote. That document is yours whether or not you continue with us, and discovery is the cheapest stage of any project because it is the only one where changing your mind costs nothing but a conversation.

If you would rather do your homework first, our cost breakdown will get you to a realistic budget range in about ten minutes, and our requirements guide includes a template you can fill in before speaking to anyone — including us.
